Why the dealer isn't your only option

Dealer-level access — for most makes on the road.

The reason a locksmith can replace a modern car key at all is access to the manufacturer's key and immobilizer data — information, hardware, and software. I have that access across most domestic, Asian, and many European makes, which is how I cut and program a fresh key at your car instead of sending you to a dealer bay on a tow.

A few of the newest high-security platforms add an extra programming layer that's case-by-case — so I never promise "all makes, no exceptions." Text me your year, make, and model and I'll confirm yours before I dispatch.

How much does an auto locksmith cost in Winnipeg? My real prices, no bait quotes.

A replacement car key in Winnipeg starts at $110 for a basic transponder and runs to $280 for an all-keys-lost job; a car lockout is $90 — and the price I text you before I dispatch is the price you pay.

Most Winnipeg locksmiths hide the number behind "call for a quote." Here are my floors. The final price depends on your vehicle and key type, and you get it in writing by text — the number I send is the number you pay. The only exception is a $45 trip fee if I drive out and the vehicle can't be serviced for a reason that wasn't shared up front; past the Perimeter, a mileage travel charge is always in the quote first. Most jobs add 12% tax (7% Manitoba PST + 5% GST); labour-only work — like the $90 car lockout or programming a fob you already own — is 5% GST only.

Why pick me over a name from a search ad

One person, start to finish

You text Leo, Leo shows up, Leo does the work. No call centre booking a stranger, no "the company on the ad isn't the tech who arrives" surprise.

Written quote, no bait pricing

A real number in writing before I drive — not a $15 ad price that becomes $300 on arrival. You pay only after the key works.

Dealer-level access & insured

Dealer-level access to manufacturer key and immobilizer data, commercial general liability insurance, and a registered Manitoba business. More about me →

ID & ownership, every time

I check photo ID against proof of ownership before I cut a key — the same rule that keeps your car yours. Why I ask for your VIN →

The ones I get most. More on the full FAQ page.

What does a mobile auto locksmith do that a dealership doesn't?

I come to your vehicle and cut and program the key on the spot — no tow into a dealer bay, no waiting on a parts order. Using dealer-level access — the same information, hardware, and software path a dealership works from — I handle spare keys, lost-all-keys replacement, transponder and proximity smart keys, fob programming, and non-destructive lockouts for most makes on the road. The dealer can do the key too, but usually only at their shop, on their schedule, after a tow if you've lost every key.

How much does an auto locksmith cost in Winnipeg?

At RAXO Locksmiths in Winnipeg, spare or replacement transponder keys start at $110+, remote-head/flip keys at $160+, proximity smart keys at $220+, and lost-all-keys (AKL) at $280+. Fob programming on its own starts at $110+, a plain mechanical key copy at $40+, and a car lockout is $90. The exact number depends on your year, make, model, and the key type — you get it in writing by text before I dispatch. Full breakdown on the pricing page. Text 204-599-5117 with your year, make and model.

Do you work on all makes?

Most makes on the road — domestic, Asian, and many European — across transponder, remote-head, flip, and proximity smart keys. A handful of the newest high-security platforms add an extra programming layer that's case-by-case. Text me your year, make, and model and I'll confirm yours before I dispatch, so you never pay for a trip I can't finish.

What's the difference between an auto locksmith and a regular locksmith?

An automotive locksmith — also called a car locksmith — works on vehicles: car keys, transponders, immobilizers, fobs, and car lockouts. A residential or commercial locksmith works on house and building locks — different trade, different tools. I do automotive only: no house locks, no business doors, no safes. If your problem isn't on wheels, I'll point you to someone good at it rather than pretend it's my job.

Can you come to me anywhere in Winnipeg?

Yes — the whole point is that I'm mobile. I cover Winnipeg and the surrounding towns (Headingley, Oak Bluff, Oakbank, West St. Paul, Stonewall, Selkirk), and I work at your driveway, a parking lot, or wherever the car is sitting. Travel inside the Perimeter is typically free; anywhere past it carries a mileage travel charge, always named in the written quote first.

My only key is lost — can you still make one?

Yes — that's the all-keys-lost (AKL) job, and it's one of my most common calls. With no key to copy, I decode the locks at the vehicle, cut a fresh key to that code, and program it to your car's immobilizer on-site through dealer-level access — no tow to the dealer. I verify ownership first (photo ID matched to your registration or proof of insurance), and if the documents are locked inside, I run the lockout first so you can reach them. All-keys-lost starts at $280+ plus tax for most transponder and remote-head keys, or $350+ for a push-to-start smart key. A second key made the same visit is half price, so two keys run $420+ (transponder) or $500+ (smart).

Do you make keys for older cars and brand-new ones?

Yes — my come-to-you kit covers most makes across roughly 2000 to 2026, from an older edge-cut transponder to a current push-to-start proximity smart key. Same deal either way: I come to your car, cut and program on-site, and text you the price first. A few of the very newest high-security platforms add an extra programming layer that's case-by-case, so send me your year, make, and model and I'll confirm yours before I dispatch.
