GMC key replacement in Winnipeg — Sierra, Yukon & the whole lineup, at your truck.

At RAXO Locksmiths in Winnipeg, I cut and program GMC keys and Smart Keys at your vehicle — spare keys from $90+, Smart Keys from $180+, all-keys-lost from $280+ (plus tax) — with a written quote by text before I drive out.

I'm Leo, and GMC is GM's truck-and-SUV division — which means every GMC has a Chevrolet twin it shares a key with: Sierra ≡ Silverado, Yukon ≡ Tahoe, Acadia ≡ Traverse, Terrain ≡ Equinox, Canyon ≡ Colorado. So a GMC key is a GM key I already carry, cut and programmed on-site with dealer-level access, from the older sensor-in-lock trucks through the modern Smart Key era. Denali and AT4 trims use the same key as the base trims. Lost every key with none to copy? That's a lost car keys job, and I still program those on-site — no dealer tow.

Why a GMC key is a same-day job

Every GMC has a Chevy twin — and shares its key.

GMC and Chevrolet are the same trucks with different grilles. That's why a GMC key is never an exotic, dealer-only part for me — it's the same GM key family as the Chevrolet twin, which I already carry and program on-site.

Sierra ≡ Silverado

Half-ton + HD trucks

Sierra 1500 / 2500 HD / 3500 HD share the Silverado key family by generation — GMT900, K2XX, T1XX.

Yukon ≡ Tahoe

Full-size SUVs

Yukon and Yukon XL share the Tahoe / Suburban key family — the same one the Cadillac Escalade uses.

Acadia ≡ Traverse

3-row mid-SUVs

Acadia shares the Traverse (and Buick Enclave) key family. Denali trim, same key as base.

Terrain ≡ Equinox

Compact SUVs

Terrain shares the Equinox chassis and Smart Key. Transponder + remote on older, Smart Key on newer.

Canyon ≡ Colorado

Mid-size trucks

Canyon shares the Colorado key family. AT4X / Denali same key as base. Smart Key standard on the 2023+ redesign.

Hummer EV

Ultium EV · 2022+

GMC-badged Ultium EV (truck + SUV). Proximity Smart Key, same architecture as GM's current trucks.

The trucks that carry the brand

Sierra & Yukon — same blanks per platform, priced to match.

Most of my GMC calls are Sierras and Yukons — a spare Smart Key, a fob that's quit, or a lost-all-keys on an older truck. They ride shared GM platforms (GMT900, K2XX, T1XX), so within a generation the keys are interchangeable by chassis, which keeps the work efficient and the price predictable.

2007 – 2014 · GMT900

Transponder + remote

Chip key plus a separate remote fob. Common all-keys-lost job today — these trucks are 12–19 years old now.

2014 – 2019 · K2XX

Flip key → Smart Key

High-security flip key on base trims; proximity Smart Key arrives on SLT, Denali and top trims. The mid-platform split.

2019 + · T1XX

Smart Key standard

Proximity Smart Key across most trims (keyed ignition held on in base trims until ~2022). Dealer-level access required for AKL.

Older Sierra / Yukon from the mid-'90s-to-late-2000s use the GM sensor-in-lock security — the fussy one with the flashing security light. I take those calls too. See the shared GM key eras on the GM overview page.

GMC pricing

How much does a GMC key cost in Winnipeg?

At RAXO Locksmiths in Winnipeg, I cut and program GMC car keys on-site — spare keys from $90+, Smart Keys from $180+, all-keys-lost from $280+ (plus tax), with a written quote by text before I drive out.

GMC uses the same GM key hardware as its Chevrolet twin, so it's the same bracket. Older transponder + remote trucks sit at the floor; Smart Key Sierras, Yukons and Denali trims sit higher for the proximity fob hardware.

Spare / extra key

Spare GMC key or Smart Key

$90+ transponder

$160+ remote head / flip

$180+ smart key

Cut and programmed at your vehicle. Older transponder trucks at the floor; Smart Key trims sit higher. Full breakdown on the spare key page.

Lost all keys (AKL)

All-keys-lost replacement

$280+

A brand-new GMC key, cut and programmed on-site through dealer-level access after an ownership check. You skip the GM parts-order, the tow, and the service-bay timing. Details on the lost-keys page.

Fob programming only

BYO fob or supply + program

$90+ you bring it

$90+ I supply

Bring a reputable aftermarket GMC fob and the programming is labour-only at $90+; or I supply a basic remote — same $90+ floor. A push-button-start proximity Smart Key is a pricier part — that's the spare / AKL pricing above, not a $90 basic-fob job. Fob programming details →

Manitoba PST 7% + GST 5% = 12% added to the total. Free inside the Perimeter; 90¢/km beyond, up to roughly 150 km. Payment by e-transfer, tap, or cash — after the key works. Full pricing transparency on the pricing page. GMC is part of the GM family — see the GM overview, or the Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac pages.

GMC key questions, answered.

GMC-specific answers below. For the shared GM key story see the GM overview; for general service, pricing and how-it-works, see the spare, lost-keys, and FAQ pages.

Do you make GMC keys in Winnipeg?

Yes. GMC is General Motors' truck-and-SUV division, and every GMC has a Chevrolet twin it shares a key family with — Sierra ≡ Silverado, Yukon ≡ Tahoe, Acadia ≡ Traverse, Terrain ≡ Equinox, Canyon ≡ Colorado. That means a GMC key is a GM key I already carry: cut and programmed at your vehicle with dealer-level access, from the older sensor-in-lock trucks through today's proximity Smart Keys.

How much does a GMC Sierra or Yukon key cost in Winnipeg?

Spare GMC key: transponder $90+, remote-head/flip $160+, Smart Key $180+, all-keys-lost $280+, plus tax. Fob programming alone starts at $90+. Older transponder + remote trucks sit at the floor; newer Smart Key Sierras and Yukons (and Denali trims) sit higher for the proximity fob hardware. You get the exact number in a written quote by text before I drive out.

Is a Denali or AT4 key different from a base GMC?

No. Denali, AT4, AT4X and Elevation are trim levels, not different key systems — they use the same key family as the base SLE / SLT trims of the same generation. Premium badge, regular GM key. So a Sierra Denali is priced the same as any other Sierra of its year.

Can you program a new GMC key if I lost all of them?

Yes — that's the all-keys-lost (AKL) job. Because a GMC shares its key family with the equivalent Chevrolet, I use dealer-level access to cut a fresh blade and program a new transponder or proximity Smart Key into your GMC's immobilizer right at your vehicle in Winnipeg — no dealer tow, no parts-order wait. Before I start I verify ownership: photo ID matched to your registration or proof of insurance in your name. If your papers are locked inside, I run the lockout first.

Which GMC models do you cover?

All of them: Sierra 1500 / 2500 HD / 3500 HD, Yukon and Yukon XL, Acadia, Terrain, Canyon, the Savana van, and the electric Hummer EV. Older GMC — Envoy, Jimmy, Safari, Sonoma, and the classic full-size trucks — are all still in scope, usually the value end of the bracket. Text me the year and model and I'll confirm the exact key and price.

My older Sierra or Yukon has a flashing security light and won't start. Can you help?

Yes — that's the classic GM sensor-in-lock symptom on the mid-'90s-to-late-2000s trucks. The magnetic sensor in the ignition lock cylinder either failed or lost its signature. There's a security-system reset I can run at your vehicle that clears it about half the time; if it doesn't, the lock cylinder sensor likely needs replacing, which I can do on-site, re-cutting your key to the new cylinder if needed. It's the exact call a lot of mobile locksmiths shy away from.

How long does a GMC key replacement take?

A spare cut from an existing key runs 5–10 minutes; a transponder, flip or Smart Key spare 30–40 minutes at your vehicle. Lost every key, plan 1–3 hours — decoding and ownership checks add time. Exact timing comes with the written quote.

A GMC in your driveway?

Quote in writing before I dispatch. Sierra, Yukon, Terrain, Acadia, Canyon — every GMC in scope, cut and programmed on-site. Pay after the key starts the engine.
