TL;DR · which Corolla job is it?
The key decides the price.
Pre-tax, mobile, at the car: key work adds 12% tax, a lockout 5% GST. "+" means "starts at" — the exact number comes by text first.
No working key left
All keys lost (AKL)
Every copy is gone, so a new key gets made from scratch and matched to the vehicle. Ownership verification required — photo ID matched to registration or insurance.
One key still works
Spare key or fob
While one key still works, the job costs far less. Book the spare before the last key goes missing.
Camry, RAV4, Tacoma and the rest of the line are on the Toyota key page; every price is on pricing.
A real Corolla job: a spare key, added at the car.
In September a Toyota Corolla owner with one working key wanted a second. That is the simplest Corolla job and the one I recommend most: I added the spare at the car, programmed it to the Corolla and tested it before I left, so the owner went from one key to two in a single visit, at the spare price instead of the all-keys-lost price.
One model name covers four different Corolla keys over the years, and the key sets the price. The ladder below shows which one your year takes.
Which key does your Corolla take? Four eras.
The Corolla has used four kinds of key, and the key sets the price tier:
- →1998–2008 — a metal key with a chip in the head that you turn in the ignition. If the car has a remote, it is a separate fob on the keyring. Spares start at $90+.
- →2009–2013 — a turn key with a chip that is harder to copy than the earlier ones ($90+). Trims with keyless entry carry the remote-head key instead ($160+).
- →2014–2019 — most trims carry the remote-head key, with lock, unlock, trunk and panic buttons built into the head ($160+). Upper trims of this generation offered a push-button Smart Key ($220+).
- →2020 on — the current Corolla. Trims with push-button start take a Smart Key ($220+), and every Corolla Hybrid has push-button start; the rest take a flip key with the remote built in ($160+).
Text me the year and trim, or a photo of the key you still have, and I confirm the key with the written quote.
How the job goes.
Text the year + where the vehicle sits
Add the trim, or a photo of a key you still have. That tells me which key your vehicle takes before I quote.
One written number back
The quote lands in the text thread before I move — travel included, nothing added at the car.
The key gets made at the car
Driveway, parkade, or a mall lot — I decode, cut, and program on-site. A spare takes well under an hour; plan 1–3 hours for all-keys-lost. Ownership check comes first.
You test it before I leave
You test the start, the locks, and the remote. Parts I supply carry a 12-month warranty.
One Corolla key left? Book the spare now.
A Corolla with one key is one lost key away from the all-keys-lost price. A spare costs $90+ plus tax for a turn key, $160+ for a remote-head or flip key and $220+ for a Smart Key, booked on your schedule. With no key left, the same car starts at $280+. A second key made while I am already at the car costs less than a separate visit later; the written quote shows that number.
Corolla remote stopped working? Battery first.
If the Corolla still starts but the remote buttons stopped working, replace the coin cell before you book anyone. My fob guide walks through the five-minute check. If the remote itself is broken, I program a replacement at the car: fob programming starts at $90+ plus tax when you supply the part.
Common questions about Corolla keys.
What does a Toyota Corolla key cost in Winnipeg?
It depends on which key your Corolla takes. A spare chip key that you turn starts at $90+ plus tax, a remote-head or flip key at $160+, and a push-button Smart Key at $220+. With no key left, all-keys-lost starts at $280+, or $350+ for a push-to-start Corolla. Text me the year and trim and I send the exact number in writing before I drive out.
Can a key counter copy my Corolla key?
A counter can copy the metal blade, and that copy opens the doors. Starting the car takes the chip inside the key, programmed to your Corolla, so a blade-only copy will not start it. I cut and program the key at the car, so the new key does both.
I lost every Corolla key. Does it need a tow?
No. I verify ownership first, with your photo ID matched to the registration or insurance, then cut and program a new key where the Corolla is parked. All-keys-lost starts at $280+ plus tax, or $350+ for push-button start.
Is a flip key the same as a remote-head key?
Not quite. On a remote-head key the metal blade is fixed and the buttons sit in the head; on a flip key the blade folds into the fob and springs out at a press. Both start at $160+ plus tax, and your Corolla's year and trim decide which one it takes.
How I quote
Number first. Then work.
- ✓Written quote by text before I dispatch. The number you see is the number you pay (pre-tax), travel included.
- ✓Most makes on the road. Send your year, make, and model and I'll confirm yours before I come.
- ✓I come to you. Driveway, lot, campsite, or roadside — across Winnipeg and southern Manitoba.
- ✓Service-call fee. If the vehicle can’t be serviced at all for a reason that wasn’t shared up front, or the job is cancelled after I’m on the road, or no one’s there when I arrive — then a $45 + tax service-call fee covers the trip and diagnosis, never the full job price.
